Sports Environment Alliance

Sport and Climate Change

Sport is fundamentally linked to the environment and climate change. The impact of extreme heat and precipitation poses a significant risk to many sports. At the same time, the environmental impact of sporting organisations and events is substantial, contributing globally to approximately 350 million tonnes of CO2 annually.

How to manage and reduce your organisation's carbon footprint

Measure your organisations key emissions sources (GHG assessment, Climate Active)

Reduce your use of carbon intensive products and services (energy, transport, products, waste)

Decarbonisation focuses on cutting emissions from energy use, by switching to renewables, using cleaner transport, and designing energy-efficient buildings. However, it would only address 55% of global emissions.

Circular Economy helps address the remaining 45%, through reuse, redesign, recycling, and reducing material demand.

Drive sustainability and low-waste circularity in sports sector

Pangolin is proud to be a partner of the Sports Environment Alliance and is committed to helping sports organisations reduce their environmental impact. This presentation provides a summary of our Summit roundtable discussion: “Driving climate literacy and sustainable low-waste circularity in your club.” In the second part, you’ll find more information about how Pangolin Associates can support your organisation on its sustainability journey.
